About hypnosis

Hypnosis is a state of heightened concentration and relaxation that allows the unconscious mind to be more open and receptive than in the normal waking state.

It can be likened to meditation, or when we practice Yoga, or that twilight state just before falling asleep. In this hyper-suggestive state it’s possible to feel imaginary emotions and sensations.

An individual under hypnosis is not asleep but is alert and aware of what is happening in his or her surroundings. An enthralling film, an engrossing book or a stage play often leads you to a hypnotic state. If time appears to slow down and if you feel imaginary emotions you have probably unknowingly self-hypnotised yourself.

It’s impossible to become “stuck” in a hypnotic state because hypnosis is concentration and you can’t stay concentrated indefinitely.

It’s impossible to make you say or do things against your will because the reasoning aspect of the unconscious mind retains it’s own barriers. For example hypnosis cannot be used as a lie detector.

You cannot be hypnotized against your will. All Hypnosis is ultimately self-hypnosis.
